Typically referred to as just the "Reapers", or "Thornveils". Only within the last several cycles have whispers of the Thornveil Reavers spread across Valecar. At first, they were dismissed as opportunistic highwaymen preying upon wealthy pilgrims and caravans traveling through the Crownwood Expanse. Then Ascendants started to be targeted, particularly in the coming weeks after the Call of Ascendants.

The party met with the leader of the Thornveil Reapers, Vaelis Thorne - the "Briar King"
Vaelis is a weathered Wood Elf ranger in his late 50s, though Crownwood hardship makes him appear older. - Long dark hair braided with roots and feathers - Missing left eye covered by thorn-wrapped leather - Cloak woven from moss, bark, and dark furs - Voice calm and unnervingly soft.

The party befriended Vaelis, and even received an ursine blessing as detailed in Session 3. Additionally, Vaelis gave Turok his crown because Vaelis recognized that Turok lacked the wisdom that a proper cleric should have.
