Valecar
Out of Character (OOC) Note from Kris (DM): Valecar is the main world for which my first ever fantasy novel is being written in. For years I have developed it, only recently developing it into a playable world tailored to D&D. It is one of my most favored creations, and now I get the pleasure of sharing it with you all - my excitement cannot be overstated. This Party will be playing in an era hundreds, potentially thousands of years (cycles) before the events that unfold in my book. Your party will literally be etched in the histories of Valecar and immortalized in novel format for eternity not only in this fantasy world, but our world as well.

Valecar
The world of Valecar is considered a mid-fantasy world. Magic is still considered a bit taboo, particularly in certain regions. However, persons with magical or supernatural abilities seem to be becoming more and more common as time rotates.
At its heart lies The Scar— a vast, land-locked ravine that stretches hundreds of miles across the largest continent. Its walls plunge straight down into absolute darkness, a bottomless abyss that no light has ever fully penetrated. Only three bridges cross this chasm, each surrounded by fortified settlements that now monopolize travel and trade between Valecar’s eastern and western realms. What began as infrastructure became power, and power became division. Entire cultures have drifted apart because of who controls these crossings.
Valecar is a world of immense biomes and stark contrasts. Frozen tundras crown the northern reaches. Dense jungles and ancient forests dominate the south. Deserts of glass and ash border fertile riverlands. Swamps, badlands, volcanic fields, and bone-strewn wastelands all claim their own territories. Hidden islands dot distant seas, and forgotten ruins rise from landscapes that no longer remember their builders.
Magic permeates the world, but it is neither gentle nor universally trusted. To some it is sacred; to others, a dangerous weapon or a necessary evil. Ancient Monoliths—massive obsidian structures older than recorded history—stand scattered across Valecar, believed by many to be corrupting forces. In recent Cycles, these Monoliths have been systematically targeted by chosen heroes, known as Champions of Valecar, under the guidance of Grand Vizier Taezyth of Solgrim, a revered religious leader whose influence now spans continents.
Solgrim, Valecar’s greatest city, rises in white marble and gold-inlaid spires within the forested Crownwood Expanse. Its symmetry is immaculate. Its streets are heavily guarded. Its people live beneath towering walls and constant surveillance, comforted by beauty while watched by unseen powers. Here, Taezyth presides over the Call of Ascendants, a grand ceremony in which champions from across the world are selected to fight in the name of salvation. To be chosen is the highest honor. Few ever return.
Valecar’s peoples are diverse. Humans dominate most cities and kingdoms, while elves maintain ancient forest enclaves and dwarves carve civilizations beneath mountains and Scar-cliffs. The Marbleborn—living beings sculpted from marble by divine design—walk among mortals as enduring symbols of Aurelyx, the god of light and form. Countless other cultures exist in borderlands, hostile regions, and hidden planes.
Religion centers on a pantheon of Seven Gods, though worship varies wildly by region. Some pray to the sun. Others honor ancestral spirits or elemental forces. Cult movements rise and fall. Faith is political, personal, and often weaponized.
Every year is called a Cycle, measured by a seven-month calendar forged in divine tradition. Festivals, rites, and holy days shape daily life, but beneath the pageantry lies unease.
