Call of Ascendants

The Call of Ascendants is commonly referred to as the "call" or "calling". This event is held annually and is currently on its 22nd cycle. Nearly 22 cycles ago, the Grand Vizier Taezyth initiated this annual calling of heroes from across the realm to unite for a singular purpose - Monoliths. Those who are chosen are called the "Champions of Valecar".

In the Calling's 14th cycle, the Champions chosen that year, later named 'The Luminary Concord', were able to destroy the Crownwood Monolith - the first and only monolith to be destroyed. However, the 14th Cycle Champions were never found and presumed dead underneath the rubble of the Monolith. During the 15th cycle, Grand Vizier Taezyth directed the city build the Hall of Champions to honor the Luminary Concord and future champions who succeed in conquering monoliths.

Details and rumors of the event have varied over the cycle, but you have not witnessed a Calling in person. You have heard that it is the most bountiful party known to Valecar. Overflowing fountains of food and drink, lustrous women and men parading and dancing around, the best minstrels and musicians known across the land belting out ballads of heroism and glory....the rumors go on. To you, it seems so far detached from your current life that you could not even imagine such a thing. To even lay eyes on the "golden city" of Solgrim seems to be thoughts of a dream.

Nevertheless, each waking day you dream of such a thing. The glory, the gold...all of it. Because there is no higher honor than that of a Champion of Valecar.
