Backstory
Targoth was born to a tribe of mountain-dwelling Goliaths known as the Cragg. The Cragg lived in relative peace until something or someone threatened their way of life. They were a society of battle-ready warriors and tacticians who were no strangers to combat, though they were a civilized people residing within a long-forgotten mountain village simply known as “The Dreg.” Over generations, Targoth climbed the Cragg’s military ranks, throughout his career amassing trophies and accolades alike. He realized his goal of becoming a champion fighter upon being promoted to Commander of his peoples’ military, and by extension, given a seat on his village’s council. It was a quiet night when Targoth’s mountaintop village was greeted by a band of Orcs, demanding Targoth and his constituents turn over their people as slaves in exchange for their freedom. Targoth immediately brandished his sword in response, which was met with hesitant murmurs and fierce glares from his fellow councilmen. The Cragg were easily outnumbered. They turned their backs to the slavers while Targoth sheathed his weapon and hung his head. The next night, the same band of orcs returned to an ajar village gate and made their entry. The councilmen had fled shortly before, Targoth included. The Dreg was burned and the Cragg were taken, save the council. He doesn’t know the fate of his people, if any remain. His confidants went their separate ways and Targoth now finds himself working odd jobs to make ends meet. He often wonders what could have been, had he not turned his back on his people. He now spends his days in search of unattainable redemption.
